CHILD SEAT
INSPECTIONS

Andover Township residents can have their child
passenger safety seats inspected by township police.
Ptl. Rod Mosner and
Ptl. Brian Kithcart are certified
child passenger safety seat technicians. Smith and
Mosner earned their certificate from the
National
Highway Traffic Safety Association in conjunction with
AAA North Jersey after completing a one-week course at
the Passaic County Police Academy.
Township residents who wish to have their seats
inspected should contact the police department at (973)
383-5544 to schedule an appointment. If neither officer
is on duty, please ask to be transferred to their voice
mail. Inspections will be conducted by appointment
only. Residents will be asked to supply the make and
model number of the seat to be inspected and the
approximate height and weight of the child. Residents
are requested to bring their child with them to their
scheduled appointment. They should also bring the
owner’s manual to both their vehicle and the seat they
wish to have inspected. Each inspection takes about one
hour.
The officers also have two child safety seats
available for township residents to borrow. The seats
can be borrowed by any resident whose child seat is not
considered safe or appropriate upon inspection. The
resident will be required to return the seat to the
police department. Wal-Mart of Hampton generously
donated the seats which aided in getting the inspection
program started.
